Deprecated: Function get_woocommerce_term_meta is deprecated since version 3.6! Use get_term_meta instead. in /var/www/vhosts/galloire.com/httpdocs/wp-includes/functions.php on line 6114

Deprecated: Function WC_Product::get_dimensions was called with an argument that is deprecated since version 3.0! By default, get_dimensions has an argument set to true so that HTML is returned. This is to support the legacy version of the method. To get HTML dimensions, instead use wc_format_dimensions() function. Pass false to this method to return an array of dimensions. This will be the new default behavior in future versions. in /var/www/vhosts/galloire.com/httpdocs/wp-includes/functions.php on line 6114

Addie Wagenknecht is a renowned American conceptual artist who works in the fields of emerging media, open-source culture, pop culture, and hacker culture, exploring the tension between human expression and technology. Using Melvin Kranzberg's first law of technology as a reference, which states: "Technology is neither good nor bad; nor is it neutral," Wagenknecht toys with the idea that technology can be all those things. In her work, which combines digital technology with painting, sculpture, photography, and installation, she deals with the concepts of privacy, freedom, surveillance, consumption, and feminism in our digitally dominant society.

Details

  • Description: Believe Me was first conceived as a commission for the Whitney Museum of American Art’s Artport in 2017. Using Donald Trump’s most uttered words of 2017 as its title, the work includes updated imagery and code that narrows in on the artist’s renegotiation of the American flag. The video presents a broken image that abstracts from time to time – referencing the Jasper Johns work Three Flags (1958) in the manner in which the flag is embedded within the imagery of the flag. Wagenknecht has been investigating the flag as a totem of the American Dream and the shattered utopias associated with this imagery for the last 5 years. In her own words, “like a cracked screen, we often view the world via and by it for months or years before we ever bother to try to fix it.”
